Do you know that it is possible to spend much time brushing your teeth and not achieve the desired results? If you happen to have plaque and tartar/calculus accumulating on your teeth regularly despite brushing twice daily, you may want to pay attention to this. When brushing is done haphazardly, that is, there is no specific way you brush (you just put the brush in your mouth and scrub as you wish), you may have debris accumulating on your teeth.
To ensure you are doing a thorough job while brushing, follow these tips:
Step 1: Put your paste on your brush and start from the outer surface of your upper teeth (either the left or right). I usually start from the last tooth on my left working my way forward to the last tooth on the right. This is easy for me because i’m right-handed, you could choose to start from the right as long as it is comfortable for you.
Step 2: Move to the outer surface of the Lower teeth starting from the side you stopped for the outer surface of the upper teeth. In my case I move from the right back to the left. With this, I have covered the outer surface of both the upper and the lower teeth.
Step 3: Brush the inner surface (where the tongue rests) of the upper teeth. I start from the left and work all the way to the right.
Step 4: Move to the inner surface of the lower teeth continuing from the side you stopped for the upper teeth. In my case, I stopped on the right while cleaning the upper teeth so i’ll brush gradually till I get back to the left.
Step 5: Brush the chewing surfaces of your teeth starting with the upper teeth followed by the lower teeth.
Final step: Brush your tongue lightly and rinse out.
At first, it may look like you are taking too much time however, you’ll become a pro with time because – ‘Practice makes perfect’. Note: you can start from either side of the teeth just make sure you do what works for you.
I’ll love to read from you, please let me know what you feel about this in the comment box. Thank you.
