After your tooth is pulled out, the Dentist or Nurse will give you a couple of instructions which should be adhered to. Failure to follow those instructions may lead to pain which is often severe.
- Do not smoke or use tobacco after your tooth is pulled out.
- Avoid spitting or rinsing out to prevent displacing the blood clot.
- Do not put your tongue/finger in the space: Putting your tongue or finger in the space may displace the blood clot and lead to pain.
- Do not use straw to take your drink as this can forcefully remove the blood clot.
5. The warm water and salt rinse should not be commenced on the same day you have your tooth pulled out. Wait for at least 24 hours before starting.
6. Do not rub your jaw or apply any balm to ease pain.
In conclusion, refrain from using anything not prescribed by your dentist.
